Humantay Lake Tour

Visit the stunning glacial Humantay Lake on this full day adventure from Cusco. Located at 4,200 meters above sea level along the trail toward the iconic Salkantay Mountain, this day hike is a great way to see some impressive Andean scenery and return to Cusco the same day.

After we pick you up early at your hotel, we will start our adventure to Humantay Lake by driving to Soraypampa. Here we will have a delicious breakfast to start our day right before beginning our hike. After breakfast, we will start our trek up to Humantay Lake. Along the way we will enjoy beautiful views of the impressive snow-capped mountains of Salkantay and Humantay. From the trailhead it is a 1-2 hour walk to the lake through moderately difficult terrain.

The high-altitude hike to Humantay is more than worth it once you arrive at the lake and see the magical view. We will have enough time to take pictures, give an offering to the Apus, and for the truly brave ones, take a swim in the lake if the sun is out! After some free time to enjoy the lake, we will start our descent to Soraypampa, which is a lot easier on the way down. In Soraypampa, lunch will await us and after some rest we return to Cusco where we will arrive in the early evening.
